Up at the San Diego Wild Animal Park, the elephant herd welcomed another little one (relative to the size of the big ones) on May 12, making three new pachyderms this year. The Wild Animal Park is taking suggestions for naming the new one. See if you have what it takes to come up with an appropriate name for a 302-pound animal by going to Name the Calf. If it helps you any, mom's name is Umoya, which means "Spirit" in Siswati, the language of Swaziland. Apparently the daddy is unknown. Names can be submitted in English but will be transalted into Siswati. Name suggestions will be taken through July 25, name finalists will be posted on the Park's website in August for more voting, and the winner will be announced on August 26. The baby needing a name is just off to the left under its mommy, which is where it tended to stay, so that's the best picture I could get of it.
let me Google one for you.

Jim, they are cute! I know that their size is relative, but they seem small!
Hi, Jim. Well, did YOU enter?? Surely you and Russel could have a few Margaritas and something would occur to you...
Hey, everyone!
Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
I've been very busy, but today I'm trying to follow up on these older posts like this one to see if anyone had any questions or if I really need to respond to anyone's comments.
I will read all the comments and respond to any that need a response, but since this post is rather old, rather than making comments here in my post to each and every one of you, I'll just let everyone know that I have read all the comments and if there are any questions, I'll answer those in comments below this one. Otherwise I'll simply post this comment and then head over to your blogs soon to visit and do some reading and commenting. I hope you'll have a nice welcome mat out for me!
Don't forget to let your cat come out to play with all the other ActiveRain kitties. Your cat-friendly dogs can come, too!
If you need a great cat book, get yourself a copy of Peg Silloway's The Cat Lover's Book of Days.
Hope all is well with everyone.
