Since starting our consumer real estate beta, this has been a common question for us at http://vidlisting.com/.  Actually, I can say that it has been the most asked question.

How We Have Counted Video Views Up To Now

We had been counting views by the video language rather than by the property.  However, more than a few people have pointed out that a view is a view is a view regardless of language.  Many of our property videos have many thousands of accumulated video views across mutiple languages (yes..property videos!) but our agents are as one corporate beta participant labelled it, "tired of always having to do the math.". Always open to feedback, we made a change to our stats engine to reflect our users' desires.

How We will Count Video Views Moving Forward

The public number of views visible on the player is now the total of video views across all languages.

Example:  if a property video has 570 views in English, 230 views in Spanish, and 310 views in Portuguese then the total that will be displayed on the player page will be 1110 for each of the languages.

This is a retroactive change applicable to all previously posted videos. Using the admin menu available after registration, videographers and agents can not only see the breakdown by language or individual video but also a fully sliced and diced analysis of how your video has performed via our different distribution methods. This portion is not a retroactive change...we have just started collecting new data for two developments in Panama that we posted last night and will be capturing this data for every property video moving forward. Once we have a body of data available using the new information, we'd like to make a subset available to the public...we are working on this now.

Why are these numbers important? Look at the engagement level for real estate videos in other languages... http://activerain.com/blogsview/163603/Measuring-Online-Engagement-With

Other Changes From Beta Feedback

We have also implemented a method to mark videos as sold (our video distribution method has been directly responsible for selling a number of properties and generating tons of leads).  We are beta testing some other functionality directly related to the sales process for the properties.  "Coming soon" as they say...

Let us know what you think of the changes...you'll be seeing us in more places in the U.S. within weeks.
