My immediate family has always lived in Naperville. My parents like to joke that they've never lived south of Ogden Avenue due to the convenience of having quick access to I-88, the 5th Avenue Train Station and all that downtown Naperville has to offer.
One such north Naperville community is "Saybrook." I grew up in this swim and tennis neighborhood and recently Saybrook was featured on Chicago Blockshopper.
Some excerpts from Jeremy Schnitker's article:
When Naperville’s Saybrook subdivision was built in the early 1960s, marketing materials advertised the development as an ideal place for young families to prosper. More than 40 years later, RE/MAX of Naperville agent Bill White Sr. says, the project still has that appeal.
Built by Richard Smykal Inc., Saybrook’s homes were originally priced from less than $35,000 to $45,000 and featured four bedrooms and two bathrooms, with options for air conditioning and fireplace additions.
White Sr. has seen young families move up to larger homes in the development.
“I’m starting to see the second generations of some of these families get married and [they] are now starting to establish their own families in Saybrook,” he said.
Why do they stay? He says because of the convenience. Most homes in Saybrook are within walking distance of the grade school and junior high, and the community swimming club is a short bike ride away.
“You can walk a lot of places,” he said.
Saybrook is truly a unique and quaint "New England-esque" Naperville neighborhood and we have a couple available homes currently in affordable price ranges.
