Greek food comes to Atascocita!

SAVVAS Greek Cuisine & Grill

Located at 6730 Atascocita Rd - this new restaurant was our lunch spot today. And I can hardly wait for my next trip back. When we arrived at 11:45 AM, there were about 6 other diners. By the time we left, the restaurant was almost full with hungry people still in line. You order at the counter, pick up your drinks & have a seat. When your number is called - get ready for some delicious food.

I selected #34 - Horiatiko Loukaniko. This was a plate with 2 Greek country sausages on pita bread (fresh & fluffy) served with tomatoes, onions, tzatziki sauce & a stuffed grape leaf. It comes with a side of fries. Crispy, salted just right fries.

My friend had #17 - the Beef Gyros. The beef, with a touch of lamb, was served in a warm pita bread with tomatoes, onions, tzatziki sauce & those fries. She added a small greek salad. The lettuce was fresh & crispy, topped with feta cheese, kalamata olives, Greek peppers, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers & a Greek vinaigrette dressing.

We wanted to check out one of the desserts - the offerings were baklava, galaktoboureko, risogalo, halva or greek yogurt & honey - but we were stuffed! We made a promise to save room next time.

The owner, Lisa Savvas, was a delight. She is personable & wants to make sure her diners are satisfied. As we enjoyed our lunch, we thought about serving this food at an upcoming Broker Open House at a property right around the corner from Savvos Greek Cuisine and Grill - we'll open it to the public too. We thought it would be a great way to share our experience! Look for that soon....

My husband is chair of our Greek festival - this year is our 50th annual, Sept 16-18. We make awesome Greek food, and even start making our pastires as early as June.

Next time, save room for the galaktoboureko - a divvine custard!!

We have eaten at Savvas Greek Cuisine & Grill several times, but this last time we decided to place an order for carry out. Talk about disappointing. We ordered the small family meat platter and our half pound of Gyro meat looked like the dregs from the day. There wasn't a piece that was bigger than 1/4 inch. My daughter actually got more meat on the child's Gyro she ordered the last time we were in the restaurant than what was provided on the platter. To make matters worse, I called to talk with the manager and her response was that it was the end of the day and we should just expect that with Gyro meat. If that is the attitude for this restaurant, then I won't be returning. It is a shame that this family run restaurant cares so little for quality and thier customer.
