Marilyn Monroe's Brentwood Home For Sale at $3.6 Million
Marilyn Monroe and Edwardsville, Illinois and vicinity don't have anything in common that I can find. Maybe her hit movies, such as "Some Like it Hot" or "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" played here at the Wildey Theater or the very grand Washington Theater in Granite City or the Miner in Collinsville back in the day...but that's about it.
But, if you're a Real Estate Voyeur like me, then you'll want to take a look at this post -- featuring the inside of the only house Marilyn's ever owned and the place where she died -- by my real estate blogger colleague Stewart in Los Angeles.
Enjoy!

Via The LA Times I discovered that the Brentwood home where Marilyn Monroe passed away has been listed For Sale at $3.6 Million.
The property last sold for $925,000 in 1996 and had previously changed hands in 1986 for $850,000.
The home at 12305 5th Helena Drive in Brentwood, CA 90049 is the only home the actress ever owned. She lived in the house for 6 months before her death.
According to The MLS "the home is an authentic 1929 Hacienda situated behind tall gates at the end of a quiet cul de sac. The 2600 sq ft home has 4 Beds and 3 Baths and features traditional casement windows, polished concrete & terra cotta tile floors & original wood beamed ceilings".
Monroe had purchased the home in 1962 for $90,000, and had been set to make mortgage payments at $320 a month. (Property Taxes on the current List Price would be approximately $3750 per month).
The property is listed by David Offer of Prudential California Realty, with photos by Lee Manning.
