This is probably a subject that's been discussed many times, but I had a talk with an attorney today about print vs. internet advertising. This particular attorney does not even advertise in print anymore.
Hello? Attorneys are the biggest ads in the yellow pages, and he's not listed in there at all? I looked and it was true.
He said he was debating even paying for SEO when it's obvious it can be done in house. I'm experimenting with that myself, although I admit the hours that I will spend researching it can add up to just as much money, but I enjoy the research so much it's well worth it to me..my employer just has to ask herself that question. However, once I know how it's done, it will get easier. I realize too, that this can all change at once with the algorithms.
Our own team rarely advertises in print. We make flyers, and send out occasional postcards. In the 3 months I have worked here we have done one open house ad in the local newspaper.
Why use print advertising when it's not even effective anymore? I don't even use a printed phone book anymore. Why take a minute or two to look something up when you can type it in and see it instantly? You have so many search options too. I doubt it says "foreclosure REALTORS®" in the phone book yellow page headings, but you can search for just that on the internet.
I am really curious to know how many of you still pay for print advertising, if you get leads and closings from it, and if you think it's worth it. It is also harder to track leads because you have to ask the person where they found you.
