We just moved our corporate offices and all I can think is: "There has to be a better way."
No matter how many times I do this, whether it's for home or office it just feels like I'm doing it all wrong! In this day and age of technology, laser beams, infrared, bluetooth, nanotechnology----we are still moving the way we did generations ago. It's kind of like when I go to the dentist and I'm running the calculations in my head: $200,000 for at least 4 years of med school....insurance...staffing....office space...medical supplies...my insurance costs and out of pocket expenses----and this guy is going to use a mirror, a pick, a hammer and a chisel on my teeth? REALLY???
So when it comes to moving and I'm going through the same motions that the colonial settlers did it just feels all wrong. Where's the innovation? Where's the science? I want teleportation!!! Ok, ok....how about a hover craft?
All my whining aside, the one saving grace was the tyga boxes; those make it so much easier. If you're not familiar with them you can see them here: http://www.tygabox.com/. Basically you put an empty tyga box on a wheel base and pull it around wherever you need it, fill it up, close it, and stack another empty box on top--repeat. The mover transports the tyga boxes and you then unpack each one, stack up the empties and the mover picks them up when you've finished unpacking. The movers also provided gigantic bins for all the office computers and other big items. We didn't have to buy a single box--that was really nice.
Our movers http://www.bayshoreteam.com/ did a great job and were very efficient, cheerful and reasonable; I highly recommend them...even though they don't have hover crafts. Yet.
