Yes, the earth moved this morning. If you live in and around the Washington, DC area, the earth moved for you too. This morning just after 5:00 AM we experienced a 3.6 earthquake. It was centered around the Rockville, Gaithersburg area. I live in Arlington, Va and it woke me up. They say dogs know when an earthquake is coming but mine was sleeping quite soundly. Hmmph so much for sounding the alarm. Just as I was drifting back to sleep, my eighteen year old earthquake came in to tell me all about the text messages she was getting from friends around the area. You know if they are up at that hour it is an event. Fortunately I did not hear any reports of serious damage. On my walk this morning there was part of 22nd St. that was closed off. A tree limb had fallen on the power lines and they were hanging down. Not sure if that was earthquake caused or not. This is the largest earthquake by far that I have experienced in this area. In 2008 there was one about 2.0 on the Richter scale. Big excitement for the day!
