Cop Punches Girl In The Face: Here's My Opinion - What's Yours?

When I saw this video posted I was immediately outraged.

Outraged that the girl got punched in the face?  NO!

Outraged that this group of youths obviously have ABSOLUTELY NO RESPECT for the local authority.

Do not even go into the race thing, because anyone who knows me knows that I am a HUGE civil rights proponent and despise bias based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or religion.

So I don't care of your white, black, brown, blue, green or purple.

You DO NOT cuss out a police officer 4 dozen times, nor do you ASSAULT a police officer which the other young lady did by attempting to free her friend.

The important thing to remember is once you assault a police officer, ALL BETS ARE OFF!  From that point it becomes a proper civil code protocol matter to self-defense for the police officer and in my opinion you are putting your life in your own hands.  This young lady should consider herself lucky that all she got was a punch in the face as opposed to a bullet.

This police officer is a human being also.  What would you do in a crowd of people that obviously could easily turn into an assault of 30 people against him?

They are SO lucky he did not draw his gun!

Are police officers always right and correct?  No.

Are there reported episodes of police corruption and/or brutality that are despicable?  Yes

But your time to prove that is in a court of law, not during the actual arrest.

It REALLY bothers me that this group of youths are standing around like a bunch of boobs with their video cameras going rather than trying to console their friend and get her through this arrest peacefully.  Thank God for the one young man who finally pulled the girl in red away so that she didn't end up getting shot in self defense.

The girl in the red comes up to the officer and shoves him.  Nobody says anything.  Then after she gets hit in the face for shoving the officer, somone asks "are you serious?"  Can you believe this?  I would have asked the same question as soon as the girl shoved the police officer.

What did the parents of these kids teach them?  Why did they not teach them to have some respect for your authorities?

This is such a huge issue as to why we have so many problems in this country.  For some reason, we have quite a percentage of people who have absolutely NO RESPECT for their society.

I'm interested in what your opinion is.

Am I wrong?

I agree with your accessment and beleive a lot of the currently mentality stems from an attitude of entitlement. When you believe that everything is there for the taking and it is your right to have it, this is the result. While this happens to be a group of kids here, I think people in general have become more rude.

I saw this video several weeks ago.

I think the officer showed much restraint.  Too bad he did not use his night stick on both of them.
