Once a month, year round, there is a great family event hosted by the community of Plant City, FL, in the downtown historic area in and around McCall Park. On the third Saturday of the month, starting at 4 PM, is the Strawberry Classic Automobile Show. On the first Saturday of the month, starting at 5 PM is the Bike Fest motorcycle show. Both events conclude at 9 PM, and both are great family oriented events.
As you can see in the photos, the quality, age, style and class of the cars is varied, with muscle, brass era, lowriders, hi boys, low boys, full restorations, rat rods, European, dune buggies, even exotics, likely to show up on any given Saturday night. One of the reasons to return over and over is because you never really know what will show up!
A family atmosphere prevails, with vendors selling homemade ice cream, photographs, and light food. Tee shirts, hand tools, and other small items are occasionally available, as well.
There is an area devoted to local car clubs, and this can be very well attended, like the recent event where late model Pontiac GTO owners brought out their toys to share with others.
The motorcylce show will bring out mostly American V Twin based rides, but as with the car show, you never really know what will show up. Drag bikes, sport bikes, even a new class, rat rod style with Japanese sport bike frames and power!
Plant City is a thriving community, with a great downtown, featuring antique shops, diners, and service based businesses. Homes in the area range from planned communities, to one acre single family home lots, to multi acre homesites and functioning farms. Affordable homes, lower taxes, and an easy commute to Tampa make Plant City a great choice for a home in the Tampa Bay area, and one I would be glad to introduce you to!
