ActiveRain Profiles - Is Your Profile a Missed Branding Opportunity?

How important are Activerain profiles?  And what the heck does the number of profile views have to do with how successfully you've marketed yourself?  The first question is a no brainer - duh. Of course they're important. Your profile is your opportunity to say to the world - hey - this is who I am and what I'm all about. Check me out!

The 2nd question - I honestly have no idea of what constitutes a successful number of profile views. None.I'm sure somebody in the rain will help out - as that's what we active rainers do well - help each other.

When I first began my 'serious' trip on the ActiveRain train I ran into a profile that knocked my socks off and I said to myself - I want a profile like this 'dude' Jeff Dowler.  It was almost first profile I saw and I'm glad I did......

I mean - WOW - he's got great content (although I didn't use'the content' word quite yet at that point in my journey)!  Jeff's got his credentials, great photos, a little history about him, links and information about his community - what's not to like? I was really impressed. His profile draws the reader right in and says - come on in - this is who I am and what I can do for you and you're going to love my community!

I started to write my profile and discovered it wasn't so easy to create such an awesome profile with my newbie blogger skills. My friends, that's when my Active Rain profile hunt began in earnest.  I started reading other people's profiles to gather ideas, tips and inspiration. I ran into many good profiles of which the 3 mentioned in this post, stuck out in my mind as ones to study and learn as much as I could....good little newbie rainer that I was.

Now I can't  possibly go much further without bringing up the guy with the CATS!  At first I thought, where's he going with this?  But then I saw the method to his madness (I mean that in a good way).

Check out his profile - it is full of details that I'd be looking for if I was looking to hire a home inspector.  Russel Ray Home Inspector!

Moving along my journey I couldn't help but notice the feisty lady who works in MD & VA that everybody talked about all the time.  Her name came up so much that I had to check out what she was all about!  I wasn't disappointed. She has got it nailed down to a capitol T.  Do you know who I mean? Of course you do!  Following in her footsteps would be a wise thing - yes - it would. Her profile is brilliant!

 Lenn Harley - of course.

So now that we're getting to the bottom of this post, you've got a Surfer Dude, a Cat Lover and a Feisty Gal to give you ideas of what well-thought out profiles look like. Study these three pros - they know their stuff.

BTW - Question #2 still is answered, perhaps our 3 pro's can chime in and teach us a few things!

Hi Anna Banana, here is one very interesting thing I noticed. Lenn is the only one that didn't focus on herself. I do love those new pictures of her, they are awesome! Of course all three are awesome.

Great post, I am always so unhappy with my profile, I should really sit down and redo. Now can you just find me the time? Nevermind, I am happy to be busy!

Good noticing.....isn't it good to have different examples.   She looks 'cute' I know she probably wouldn't like that word but she does look so darn cute to me!  I love those pics!

Hey Andrea - as far as the time thing goes I can help you with that.....plug in 30 mintues every other day and within a few weeks things would be cooking!

Rebecca - well maybe?  Most folks don't seem to see the meaning of the importance. Some are after totally different goals.....and they expect different results.  And that is another post.......can't wait to share.

Rosalinda....I'm off to see your changes.  How cool is that!  Always a 'moveable feast"!

Anna - Well first thanks for the mention, and quite a mention it is. I'm more than flattered.

You raise some excellent points - it really IS a great place to showcase who you are and what you are all about. I need to update mine more regularly, which I think important for everyone. I am surprised at the number of people who have nothing on their profile, or very litte.

I can attribute 2 sales specifically to my profile. In one case the buyer (they spent $1.4 million) saw ONLY my profile and decided I was the person to call.  So I KNOW the value. And mine has been viewed over 70,000 times. That's a lot of opportunity.

Your is excellent, which I expect you already know. it is a great role model for others.

Maybe an AR contest?

Jeff

Jeff all extremely well deserved I might ad! I agree about the updating, in fact that's what made me think about writing this post, I knew it was time for a re-do.  You've set the bar and I'm glad your profile was one of the first I saw.  I am always surprized wihen agents don't do much at all to their profiles - or worse yet - leave them unfinished.  I imagine a few more might be doing something know.  Thanks for you feedback on my profile too!

Contest - what a great idea.

Anna, as usual great advice.  I know my profile stinks and I know it...I knew it from day 1....I suppose that's why I don't have an ActiveRain success story yet.  :) Another item I should add to my "to do" list.  Have a great week!

banditoPROFILE! That's a bad word to be tossing around in Arizona these days. We need a more positive word with SB1070 on the horizon. We're even training our Police Officers how NOT to Profile!

Profile! We don't need no stinkin Profile.

BTW Bannana if you juiced google for Profile from this blog, I will pray for you.The hoardes of protesters being bussed over from LA will be at your office by 8a in the morning.
