Sunday mornings are for getting in touch with our inner self and finding inspiration and satisfaction in our lives. Or at least in my opinion. This Sunday was a little different than normal. On clear sunny mornings, I cave to my golf addiction. This Sunday was different as I could not go to my regular course as they were having an all day tournament and I needed to get off the course early enough to run an Open House for one of my listings.
This had me driving to Farmington Ct to Tunxis Plantation. This layout features 2 18 hole championship courses and an additional 9 hole course. I figured if I got up there early enough I could hook up with someone and get done on time.
As luck would have it, especially on a Sunday morning, I was teamed with two brothers, Matt and Luke. As they announced their names, I was slightly taken back. Was this some type of sign that maybe I wasn't supposed to be here? I did attend vigil services with my wife the previous evening so I thought I was clear.
I made a comment on the names and Matt corrected me by letting me know his full name was Matthew Mark. They were 2 of eight, the other names being John (of course), Donna, Cassie, Ann, Mary and Gina. Being me, I had to comment that they were definitely children of parents that took the Gospel seriously, especially the part about be fruitful and multiply.
We played the White course, which is a links course, which means a continuous run from 1 thru 18. Par is 72 from the white tees, 6250 yards of open fairways, then water hazards, island greens, and tight driving alleys.
The scenary on a golf course is always special and it truly is a commune with nature. The 3 courses at Tunxis Plantation in Farmington Ct are no exception. Even the drives between holes are lined with wild flower islands.
Running right through the course is the Farmington River, which just adds an additional touch with nature. This Sunday was no exception as I caved to my addiction, but with Luke and Matthew Mark along, I had the good graces of someone special. My wife had no problem with me going.
