Check out this super cool smart phone app for either iphone or android for FREE!

To use it while shopping just hold the phone up to the bar code on the item as if to photograph it. The app will give prompts to get a clear shot of the bar code. Voila! Shop savvy will tell you where the item can be found for the best price.

I used shop savvy to find printer cartridges recently while in Best Buy. Guess what shop savvy saved me money on my first outing!

Charles-- Thanks for the tip! I'll check it out as soon as I get a smart phone. I'm due for an upgrade at the end of the month. My sons have convinced me that I need an iphone for my business and I have to say there have been many occasions lately when I could have used one.

Somebody showed me this application on their phone. It is pretty neat. But it is not just about comparing price. You can also look at product reviews. And if the store is has negotiable prices, the phone app would be a pretty good negotiating tool. But I have seen cases where the online price is lower than the same store's in-store price and the store won't honor their online price.

Dan, All good tips. Thanks. The reviews are great but I'm usually looking for products I already use. When the app says it is less to buy online just remember the shipping charges.
