The Florida Legislature meets in special session this week to consider placing a constitutional amendment banning offshore oil drilling on the November ballot. But the session starting Tuesday, July 29th is also a fight between the Republican-dominated Legislature and Gov. Charlie Crist. The governor abandoned the GOP three months ago to run for the U.S. Senate as an independent. By calling the four-day special session, Crist has put the Republican leadership on the spot to side with oil or votes who in general want a ban. This is a good time to contant your representative if you feel strongly about stopping oil drilling on our shores.
