Ethics?

By
Real Estate Agent with Diverse Realty Group

Are bad practices growing incrementally? With each small twist of the wheel going unnoticed. Are people rewarded for behavior which reinforces bad practices instead of good practices? We are told from natural science that a frog will sit in a pan of tepid water as the heat is slowly turned up until it dies. While, if the frog is thrown into over-heated water, it will jump out. Entitlement replaces responsibility. We each have our own vision of organizations gone awry; and as we wonder how the powers in real estate could have condoned such bad practices, perhaps the only answer is the incremental gradualism of evil where there is a lack of moral awareness or imagination.

Tina, interesting topic.  I would agree that little by little it seems to be getting very hot in the pan!

Tina, I disagree. Little by little, we are all getting better.  Standards are rising as are licensing and education requirements.  It just takes a long time.

Joe,  I would love to share your opinion. In my experience, I can not.   I do, however, agree with obtaining more education.

Hi Tina, I think a lot of the "ethically challenged" people who joined our industry to make a fast buck are now leaving in droves. With any luck, the rest of them will go, too, and the rest of us can really begin to heighten awareness of the good folk in our profession.
