Miller's Hardware on Spokane's South Hill - What Would We Do Without You?!

When you purchase a new home, no matter how old or new, I can almost guarantee you will be making a trip to the hardware store within the first week . . .if not the first day!  Even if you are lucky enough to have a fully-functioning toilet and the previous owners didn’t remove all the light bulbs, you may still need a new hose or some nails to hang your artwork.  If your new home is on Spokane’s South Hill, you are fortunate indeed!  Miller’s Hardware on East 29th Avenue offers old-fashioned, small-town service in the city!  This local hardware store is small, cluttered and packed full of almost anything you might need to fix minor plumbing or electrical issues.  In addition, they have products for your garden, holiday decorating, home improvement projects and home maintenance!

Best of all, however, is the SERVICE!  There are always a number of employees waiting to help you find exactly what you need.  And they always know exactly where to find it! (have you ever followed a salesman back and forth across Lowes in an effort to locate something?) Whenever my husband sends me to the store for some specific part for a household repair, I always head to Millers first.  These are not run-of-the-mill store employees.  These are guys that have mastered the art of “fix it up one more time”  and can always figure out what my husband couldn’t quite put into words . . . my trips to the big box stores always meant a return trip to replace the wrong item I was sold the first time!  They are totally understanding of the eccentricities of the historic South Hill homes and are very supportive of my efforts to repair my 1915 light fixtures rather than replace them!

Millers has great sales on seasonal items and are competitive with their prices, especially when you figure in the gas you are saving by shopping in the neighborhood!  So, next time you are on the South Hill, stop in and check out this great little hardware storeAnd, please, support them today so they will still be there tomorrow!

Thanks, Lori . . .it is easier to write local posts when I believe in the subject.  The great people at Millers have helped us patch up our 1914 house way too many times!

That's a gem of a store, well worth sharing with your consumers there. Very nice post, Valerie -- you really know your marketplace.

Lottie - I try to promote them whenever I can. They are always busy so many of the locals must think the same way!

It's great that you're promoting a local hardware store -- a category that is quickly disappearing in our Bog Box world.  Our local hardware store, like yours, has the most amazing service.  And, contrary to popular opinion, competitive prices.

Richard - I try to support small local businesses whenever possible!  We remodeled an old building in Tennessee several years ago . . .I actually bought all my plumbing supplies from a local hardware store.  They matched big box prices since I was ordering a lot.  It is worth asking about bulk discounts as they can be competitive with larger orders!
