Bellingham Washington has been revered over and over by many nationally recognized magazines.  One in particular being Kiplinger's article on top places to retire in the USA.  This article was published in 2005 though the city has seen massive growth in the prior twenty years.

Bellingham Washington derived its name from a fellow named Sir William Bellingham who was the Controller of Storekeepers account of the Royal Navy in 1792.  The name was bestowed by George Vancouver who was visting this beautiful city around that time.

I have lived in this wonderful city for thirty years and have witnessed many areas transform from barren wooded areas to magnificent developments.  For the record I do look forward to this growth and welcome its many opportunities.

Future developments annexation of surrounding farmlands and wilderness have been kept to a minimum due to a general public concern for environmental preservation.  Recently there have been a growing amount of controversy surrounding Bellinghams decision to cap heights of new downtown commercial buildings.  This type of development may be good for a city that has concerns for industialization of its small town feel.

We should also look forward to the New Whatcom Neighborhood that will be replacing the now defunct area of Geogia Pacific.  This area plans for new homes, parks, restaurants etc.  Most of this area is still in planning stages though it appears as though dismantling of unused portions of G.P. has already begun.

Looking Forward To A Great Bellingham!
