There is a place for kids who want to practice their skateboard skills in Havertown. It's in Veteran's Park behind the Skatium (ice skating rink) on Darby Road. It's open until sundown everyday.

That's really neat! It's great when kids have somewhere that they can go to have fun and it keeps them out of trouble!

Phly - Before they built the park, countless sidewalks were busted up from the jumps and slams the kids did with their skateboards. Hooray for the park.

Suzanne, when I was about 13-14 years old my friends and I built our own skateboards...metal wheels...we didn't do the trick these kids do but we did have fun skating down steep Missouri hills...still can't believe we did it on metal wheels.

Nick - In my neighborhood when I was about 10, we built go carts. Wooden crate in front nailed onto a board big enough to perch on and metal roller skates pulled apart to use the wheels. Massachusetts has alot of rolling hills too. Kids, hills and wheels a beautiful combination. Oh yes and scars! :-)
