do you mean on active rain? I believe in your profile settings, it askes you for your web site address. also if you want to include it with your comments or posts just type in... like

http://www.sectlisting.com

hit the enter key and it should altomatically have a link to that address

Well, you can do it from your profile here at active rain, but you can also do it from blog posts.  But make the links you put into blog posts relevant, if you put links in that are not relevant to the blog post itself then it is spam and it makes you look bad.

Write your blog posts for consumers not for links and you will be much better off.

I suggest you join the newbee group, you will learn lots.

Dan, take a look at my blog.  There's a tutorial on working with images.  We're not too far down the road from you, so maybe we should get together for a cup of coffee.

When you look at your blog page when you are logged in there is a links section to the right, and an "add/remove" button, you can click it to add web sites there. In your blog and comments, if you want to make a link, highlight the text you want to be the link, and click the little chain link button, it will bring up a dialog box that lets you enter the web address you want it to go to.
