Is there a Tax Break for Sarasota Non-Resident Buyers?

Many investors and purchasers of second homes have asked "Is there a tax break for non-resident buyers in Sarasota?". Last year a protection was put in place for those who own Sarasota real estate but live here only part-time.

The measure states that non-homestead Sarasota property will be protected from such an increase, and sets the limit per year. For example, if a property is worth $200,000 this year, the maximum value that can be assessed the following year is $220,000. To anyone who remembers the run up of 2004 through 2006, that is welcome news for the future.
