Things to do Colorado - Renaissance Festival

By
Real Estate Agent with The DiGiorgio Group

The Colorado Renaissance Festival in Larkspur, Colorado is great fun, but the 2010 season will soon be at an end!  The last weekend is July31/August 1.

Even their website is fun - you can get all the info you need there, so I'm just going to share some of my pictures here and encourage you to take a day and get out there before it's too late.

Colorado Renaissance Festival

My daughter and her hubby have loved their annual trek to the Festival for about a decade now, but it took a few years for her to convince me to spend a day in Larkspur. I don't enjoy most 'festivals' because they're all about selling stuff I don't want, and very little entertainment.

But I grudgingly went in 2009 (most of my pics are from 2009, I'm just now getting the post written!), and I was eager to go again this year.

What I like about it is the overall atmosphere - enhanced by the costumed participants who interact with visitors, and never get out of character. Many of the attendees are also in costumes of some sort, but ... well ... a lot of them are just enjoying an excuse to dress weird for a day, IMHO!

And there's LOTS of entertainment, which is part of the entry fee (no additional charge for the shows).

My only complaint was that it's difficult to figure out when exactly each show is going to start, so we never made it to one at the beginning. And every seat fills up fast!  Obviously, a lot of other people were great at figuring this out, so we were just missing something.

Things to do Between Denver and Boulder  Had to start with this one. 'Nuff said!

I did already go but didn't take the camera because we were hauling the six-month old grandson, so wanted to travel as light as possible. Too bad I didn't, because there was a photo contest I would have loved to enter!

Joetta, I have seen these Renaissance Fairs crop up all over the Country and I have been meaning to attend one. I think this time you have sparked action from me. The next one they have in Orange County CA I must check out.

Endre this one has been going on for years, and it's actually a small town. You enter through these 30' tall gates (with costumed crazy people who heckle you as you enter) and you're in a different world! I hope you find one and like it too!
