Where are the Foreclosures in Central Massachusetts?
July 23, 2010: Today I am looking at the market to see which towns have the most foreclosures. The inventory of foreclosed properties has dropped since earlier in the year. Since my business centers on the towns of south-central Massachusetts, my report today includes only those towns. If you are looking for specific foreclosure data in a particular town, give me a call and I will pull that information for you.
Below you will see two graphs. The first shows the number of foreclosed properties on the market among several towns. The second shows the average list price of those foreclosed properties.
You can use this data to see where there is a higher inventory of foreclosed properties with relatively lower prices. For example, the town of Spencer currently has 8 foreclosed properties on the market, with an average list price of about $85,000. There may be some investment opportunities there. Keep in mind, however, that a low list price often means a high level of repairs needed.
