Sunflowers Growing Like Crazy

As you can see from the various photos below, I have a few sunflower plants in the garden at my Russian River home.  These sunflowers were grown from seeds purchased at the store along with starter disks.  I have a bit of a green thumb.  I also am truly facinated at how nature works.  I have always enjoyed watching plants grow.  I really love sunflowers because some can grow to over 10 feet tall.

Here I'm standing in along side one of the plants that is already over 6 feet tall and growing like made.  Not bad for July 23.  I bet these guys are going to reach 10 feet tall.

I also grow a mean tomato.  I learned how to grow tomatos when I was a boy.  My parents as well as my grandparents were experts at growing vegatables.  It rubbed off on me.  He at the Russian River house, the neigbors are also very instamental in the efforts.  Years ago I clear this garden area which was overgrow with wild growth.  I really sweated hard when I did that.  The results is that we get a great plot of land to grow.  I've snuck the sunflower plants in between the tomatos.

I have to say looking at that photo really moves me.  I know it's simple gardening, yet just looking at what nature is capable and how harnessing it's power can yield great results alway impresses me.

Sunflowers, tomatos, etc, grow so easily with a little bit of assistance.  We too need to keep growing.  With a little help we are prown to grow and develop.  Make sure you're just sitting still.  If the sunflowers can do it so can you.

Thanks all.  I really do get a kick out of my garden.  I truly enjoy the tomatoes.  Picking fresh tomatoes from the garden must be one of the best things anyone can do.  Yet, the sunflower plants are my true joy.  They so impress me.

My husband is the gardener in our household, but he likes to grow things that attract wildlife.

Hi Jim,  If you here I'd get you some home grown tomatoes.  They're starting to rippen.  We've had a cooler summer in Nothern California.  Hope all is well.

I love watching sunflowers grow.  These sunflowers are now over 10 feet tall.  I'll have photos soon.
