One of the biggest concerns forfamilies in and aroundBeaverton, Oregon, when they are looking to buy a home is “How safe isBeaverton?” Well, I personally feel Beaverton,Oregon, real estate is prettysafe, but what about when you aren’t around?

This is where the City of Beaverton police has reallystepped it up. I always used to hate going on vacationprior to buying an alarmfor my house and even then I still get a feeling in the pit of mystomach fromtime to time about all my stuff sitting back at home without me andreally justhoping it is still there when I get home. (I had my home broken in towhen Iwas in college, so I still never really got over that.)

So, how is the City of Beaverton helpingme feel more atease? They are starting a new program called “Vacation Check”. This is wherethey drive by your house from time to time, just to make sureeverything isalright while you area away. The only thing is that you have to submityourrequest at least 72 hours prior to going on vacation and the vacationcan’t befor less than 7 days and can be no longer than 3 weeks.

The BeavertonPolice department says thought there is noguarantee that a break in won’t still occur, they do feel that thiswill reducethe chances of a citizen who is a resident of Beaverton,Oregon, will have lessof a chance of becoming a victim thanks to this program. I personallyfeel thatthis program will help Beaverton,Oregon, real estate in the form of homevalues, because security really is a major component in value.

That sure sounds like an excellent service Todd.  In our community in Sewalls Point, we have a similar set up.  Then again, there's still that good burglar alarm that works 24/7.

Todd, my home town will actually check doors if requested too because I did get a call once & that's because one of my sons had come over & left it unlocked!  It's a great service & it makes a great localism post...i need to remember that!

Small town life has its joys. I'm sure the Seattle Police Department would welcome my request too. Sure.

Good for Beaverton, that's a great service.

Nice one, Glenn.  I know that Clyde Hill/Yarrow Point actually have this service, I've had a client use it, but that's a small Police Department.

Todd,

What a great way to advertise the city! I lived in Beaverton for 30 years and always felt secure in the area, and now the city is going the extra mile!

Sounds like another idea to help sell homes in the area for you Todd.  I doubt your area has much crime already.  An alarm system isn't bullet proof any way.

Having a neighbor that is willing to keep an eye on the place is also a good idea!!!
