Whoo Hoo the Benton County Fair is here again!
The 2010 Benton County Fair in Sauk Rapids Minnesota, August 3rd to August 8th, will be an event to remember and the schedule this year, as always, has something for everyone. If you live in central Minnesota then you know how big the Benton County Fair is. It actually comes up in conversation when you are showing homes for sale near the Benton County Fair Grounds. You see the fair is so popular that homeowners in the area actually charge people to park on their lawn; because if you are not there first thing in the morning you will be walking for blocks and blocks to get to the Fair Grounds.
The live music for the 98th Annual Benton County Fair promises to be a blast; starting off on Tuesday evening, August 3 at 8:00pm, with the grammy award winning Kentucky Headhunters. Wednesday's music features The Couch from 1-4pm and at 8pm 79 Freightliner takes the stage; then on Thursday The Benton County Fair will have the Terry Nelson Band in the afternoon and Hillbilly Mafia in the evening. On Friday, August 6, the music explodes with the Battle of the Bands all afternoon, with Diamondback at 8:00 to finish off a fantastic day of music. Saturday and Sunday round out the week featuring Country Jam, The Mason Dixons and Whiskey Tango, you can print out a full list of the Beer Garden Bands Schedule for all the times.
This year the Benton County Fair's Grandstand Events include Motorcross, Demolition Derbies, Modified out of field Tractor Pull and a Pick-up Pull. The fair grounds will be full of activities ranging from the midway rides to the talent show, a trivia contest, a scavenger hunt, martial arts demonstrations, square dancing, magic shows, a cribbage tournament and a Texas Hold-em Contest. Big attractions this year include the La Pig races which have to be seen to be believed, and the remote control races, mind you, these are slightly modified remote control vehicles. What a blast!
On Saturday, kids day at the fair, youngsters will be able to "make it and take it" the Home Depot will supply the materials necessary to build a project (ie a birdhouse or similar) and provide instructions and guidance while the children get to make it. Pony rides are being given by the 4H and the Girl Scouts are doing a fun speed camping attraction. There is so much to see and do I strongly suggest checking out the full schedule of the weeks events for the Benton County Fair.
