Local Real Estate radio show! Outside of the Box Marketing & Thinking

Open HouseWe are in a serious market change. I have been thinking about new marketing ideas and what is going to be important in this market.

As the market changes it is more important to have an outlet for learning, sharing and educating not only ourselves, but our clients. I approached a radio station and sold them on an idea and in the first week in September I will be starting a real estate show every Saturday on a local radio station, KTAN-AM News Talk here in Sierra Vista, Arizona. It will run from 10 to 11a.m. The first segment of the hour will be guests from every area of real estate, mortgage, home improvement, staging, investment tips and more. The second segment will feature Open Houses that will be happening over the weekend and the third segment will be a "Ask Us" segment where people can e-mail in or call in questions about real estate.

I think it will do well if we can educate the public on current market conditions and give agents a new outlet to talk about their open houses.

I have chosen real estate as a career, not a job. I will be looking for every opportunity to find new and different ways to get my name out there in my community to ensure that I will be in this business for many years to come.

I would love to hear some ideas on good topics and types of guests that you think would make a real estate radio show exciting. Any help and suggestions would be so very appreciated as I am heading into unchartered waters for my area.

Brad,

I've done radio segments and been a guest numerous times on real estate radio shows.  I think one of the most important things you can do on your show is do your homework ahead of time to find experts in various related areas who are ARTICULATE and INTERESTING.  That is difficult.  So many experts who are decent in a conversation are terrible on radio.

It really helps to have a sense of humor with discernment.

I think listeners want to hear unique perspectives, not just an expert espousing.  It does take someone who is creative to offer unique perspectives.

By the way, I've posted several of my two minute radio spots I do here on my web.  Since my background is real estate law, I call our spots, "Traps for the Unwary."  You're welcome to listen to them if you care to.

Chuck has some great points here. People can get nervous on air, lost it and froze up. If they are prepped properly then it will make it easier on you as well to interview them. But I think overall this is a great idea and can bring you lots of prospects as well.

Cheers,

Cindy

Hi Brad, congrats, I have approached several stations in my market as well one is considering the other has no interest, I'll approach more.  I am sure you will do fine and I know you will be ready.  Make sure to post an update of your first show.
