Did you know that the magic number of the estimated world population is 6,612,227,120 ?  I'd say there is plenty of business to go around all we have to do is go after it and seek it!

Did you know there are approximately 302,623,872 people in the United States?  I still think with the United States population alone there still is plenty of business to go around, again all we have to do is go after it and seek it.

Name recognition is so important in business.  With over  1.3 million members of the National Association of Realtors.  How are you going to stand out?  You have to do your part to be seen and heard!

Remember the Midori...Midori...Midori post..Get connected with your share of the world!

Learn To Be Your Biggest Fan...Self Promote!

With 2008 approaching quickly...Get Ready...Get Set....Self Promote!

Business Cards-Do you have a tag line? Photo?  Your best number to be reached?  How about your designations, your web address.

Let's not forget the back of the card, use it and ask for referrals.

Name tags-It's simple just put it on. Don't leave home without it!  I bet your name tag will generate an additional real estate conversation or two.

Get Involved-The Board of Realtors, organizations, local politics, Chamber of Commerce, Toastmasters, Volunteer.  You get the point, get involved in life and real estate will follow.

Be Seen and Heard-If you attend any group functions such as seminars and training sessions, speak up, speak out!  I don't mean be obnoxious, simply participate and get recognized.

Print Materials- Create personalized materials with all of your contact info, remember the customer chose you to buy and/or sell real estate, that's right you, not your company!

 Don't be generic....Get personal....

Voice Mail-Record a talking billboard, state your name, your hours of operation and don't forget your website. Sometimes a voice mail is the 1st contact that a customer will have with you.

Mailings-Be cost efficient, go ahead send just listed and just sold but supplement your mailings with postcard style schedules.

Good ideas are NFL Football Schedule, Baseball Schedule, School Schedule, Community Event Schedule.

I guarantee that one day you will walk into a house and see one of your schedules.

Online Marketing- Do I even have to go there? If you are here and still don't get, refer to the 1000's of post here on Activerain.

Be Good to People- The best way to self promote is "Walk the Walk!" and "Talk the Talk!" and follow the golden rule.  In our business, no publicity is definitely better than bad publicity so be yourself but most importantly be good to people.

Do yourself a favor and learn To Be Your Biggest Fan...Self Promote!  If  you won't do it, someone else will, doesn't everyone know a Realtor?

I would say a name tag evokes than a conversation or two. Most people take theirs off when they are not at work or "working" in general, but that is when I put mine on. I shamelessly promote myself at every civic function I can think of by merely wearing my name tag. I love to wear it to the grocery store... two cards given out yesterday when I went in to buy dog food.....

Midori, while I admire the methods you outline, they will only be appropriate if you really believe in them (which you clearly do). There are many of us out there who are less cofortable with assertive self-promotion. For us, the problem isn't with the methods themselves (they obviously work for many people), but rather with our inability to reconcile those methods with our own beliefs, personalities, whatever. That's why for us blogging is a great venue. Not to, ahem, self-promote, but you may want to check out my post on this very subject. Thanks for your insights.

Bright-Very cool name!  I would definitely wear a nametag if I were you!  You would be suprised as to how many conversations can start by just wearing a name tag!  Also, as far as self promotion....you are not alone.  Some people have a hard time tooting their own horn!  Just go for it.....THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENT.....see you on your post.

Rob-I went to the activerain birthday bash and they provided a paper nametag.  I opted for my Century 21 name tag.  NO shame here....I like being a little different.  I wear my tag to dinner, to the grocery..

At the activerain birthday bash with my blogging mentor Colleen.....one awesome lady!  Check out my nametag.  Thanks for commenting and see you on your post.

Justyna- I can respect what you are saying....yes for some it does not work and guess what that is ok!  If you aren't comfortable, don't do it!   That is what makes the world go around, different people, different beliefs and personalities.....sending me links to your site is self promotion.....I love it!  very subtle...but still self promotion.

I really appreciate your comments and insight.  Also I agree blogging is awesome, I met some activerainers and I loved it!  Meeting them in person made it so better!  My brother is so shy but he is different online...I love reading his comments and his posts.  He loves the blogosphere and even he left the bat cave to attend the party.  Thanks for stopping by and I can't wait to read your post!

"Be Good to People!"  That's the most important part of your blog as far as I'm concerned.  It all goes around, doesn't it?

Diane-I have to agree with you!  Being good to people is what it is all about....All these things are important.  Reputation....falls into self promotion as well...depending on how good or  bad you do treat people.  Thank you for commenting.

Some inexpensive ideas are significant: wear your name tag, for example. You might also want to leave your business card with your restaurant checks - assuming you leave a good tip!

Sharon-I can't agree.  Only if you leave a good tip.  I know some realtors that should never ever leave their business cards.  Thanks for stopping by Sharon always always a pleasure.

All good info, self promotion is the best. sold signs in neighborhoods with your name on it is the best form of self promotion. go out there and do business. The harder you work the Luckier you will become.

Hi Gary-Thanks for stopping by...Yes I can't agree  with you more,  Sold signs will defiitely kick your business up a notch.... There is a guy in town that once he closes he gets the buyer to allow him to keep his sign up with a sold rider on it.  There have been a couple that have closed in the mls and he had his sign up for about 45 days after the sale.

Great ideas, I use baseball and football schedules every year. I've been to houses where the schedule is still up from the year before long after the seasons over. Or they'll cut off the schedule and keep the info. Great advertising!!

I think people forget the value of a name tag. If anything when I have it on I am in "work mode" and feel like a professional. I am not afraid of self-promotion! It's crucial in this business!
