In our office we have been taking turns having our summer vacation. It is so fun to see the agents before they leave on vacation and after they return. We all need a break from our day to day life no matter how much we love our life.

Before people leave on vacation they are short tempered, tired, testy, and frustrated. When they return they are calm, relaxed, happy, full of energy, full of happy stories, anxious for more to do.

It doesn't seem to matter if they have goone 100 miles or several thousand miles, it seems to be just getting out of town and away from the usual. It seems the activity or lack of activity on a vacation is really healing emotionally, mentally, and physically.

In our office we have had agents go to Seattle, Big Bear Lake, Iowa, New York, Canada, Napa Valley, and Los Angeles. They all come back ready to work harder than ever and lot more energy, stamina, and great attitude.

Is it time for you to go on a vacation too?

Hi Lori it just might be time for a little time off.  My wife and I are headed to New York this weekend.

I agree that all I have to do is plan a vacation and I get busy.  I am then even more organized and motivated to get all the loose ends tied up before I go so that I can RELAX!  It is true that we all need our away time, even for just a long weekend every couple of months.  It does wonders for our productivity and our renewed enthusiasm for the business.

Some blasts from the past in today's Drop. We went on vacation early in Nov,  and when I came back I didn't have time to be giddy as there was work to do.

Sounds to me like real estate agents need to modify their lives do it isn't like "a job". We are self employed and may want to think of shorter times away during the year to not get that stress level so high? Just a thought.

Dear Lori,

Sure. I could use a few days away. Even some snow days would be nice, but not quite ready for that yet either.

Don't need or want a vacation. Sorry. I like what I do!! Also, with 5 very spoiled and eccentric dogs, sorta stuck here even if I wanted to leave.

No matter what business you are in you need to get away occasionally.  You need to recharge the batteries.

I would be happy after a vacation too (lol) it has been 3 very long years since my last vacation in June of 2009. However, it has been so busy in our Real Estate office(s). Although, I'm not a realtor, I understand what it's like to be busy, I am the only full-time advertising/marketing agent for 2 of our New Hampshire Real Estate offices.

Lori:

We all need to recharge our batteries and a vacation is the things that will do that.  It is important that we take vacation otherwise we burnout and are no good to our family, friends and clients.

I took one in October and had a great time.  Loved being with the family.  And no disasters while I was gone.

I live four blocks from the beach in sunny Jacksonville Beach, FL. It is a much more calming atmosphere in general. I live on vacation.
