I was talking to a client today from Keller Williams. Another one that went to Rain Camp and he went to Agent Reboot, too.
He said one of the speakers at Agent Reboot talked a lot about the "other" Social Media Networks like Foresquare.
It's a Check in kind of micro-blogging network. Meaning you and your friends go to the movies or a restaurant, and you use your iPhone, Crackberry or Droid to "check into," the network and tell your friends where you are. It gets old fast. I tried the account and deleted myself two weeks later since I never go anywhere, and my target audience isn't there.
It's sort of like one part GPS and one part chat.
Foursquare has tried to make it a bit "entertaining," but the problem is most adults are seeing it as a complete waste of their time.
Business Analyst Forrester Research Group agrees. Just this week, Forrester Research reported less than 4% of adults are even using location based mobile apps like Foresquare.
Which means for us REALTORS, the chances of us advertising on, and getting leads from Foursquare or any other location based-app are about as good as you getting a YES for your 3rd commission advance.
The ACID TESt: Forrester reported that not many people even knew about the existence of these location-based mobile applications. Which follows, if you didn't know about Foresquare to begin with... this simply explains why you're not using it.
Here's what Forrester reported about the use of Foresquare:
1.) 80% of the audience is male. 70% of them between ages 19 and 35.
2.) Only 35% of their users are Americans. Which means out of the 125 million users, this means 43.75 million. Do you hear the crickets? I do.
It's a small audience and for me -- I've yet to find a single friend or person who has ever recommended Foresquare to me.
Which sort of begs the question... if this micro-blogging service is such a dud, why are the featured speakers @ Agent Reboot wasting anyone's time or energy talking about it?
Things that make you go: Hmmmmmm.
