Open Range: Mike in Tucson

~ Pinto and Baboquivari ~

South of State Highway 86 on Sunday afternoon west of Kitt Peak, cruising along at 35 mph, I had the windows down and my camera at the ready in my right hand. Other than the occasional Border Patrol vehicle, I was the only car on the road.

Except for the pavement and the bulldozer marks behind this Pinto, this scene would have been no different were it back in the 1880s.

Come visit Arizona! It's altogether a different world from the one you're used to.

why I have a photo from back in summer of 2000 when I first moved to Tucson. It's a shot of "downtown" Why, AZ. There's a long horn rambling through!! My son and I got such a kick out of that. We'd actually driven all the way to why just to pose by the sign!!! I love your photos and the fact that you share them. Thank you very much.
