The intersection at Legacy Drive and Preston rd in Plano has always been very busy. Originally Preston rd was split apart as it approached Legacy Dr for future overpass construction. Well, that never happened. Now the city has set up this fabulous plan to make left hand turns from Legacy onto Preston. Actually - you have to turn right in order to turn left! As I see it, turns from Preston onto Legacy do not change, and for right hand turns from Legacy to Preston you can simply turn right. Make sense? Below is the official statement from the city...
(By the end of this week), the Median Left Turn at the intersection of Legacy Drive and Preston Road will be operational. Since many of you drive this area and a Median Left Turn has never been done before in Texas, please be alert when approaching this intersection. Left-turns from Legacy Drive onto Preston Road will no longer be permitted. Below (above) is an illustration, a link to a video and basic navigation tips to prepare you for this change:
•1 To make a left turn from Legacy Drive onto Preston Road, get in the right lane and turn right.
•2 After turning right, merge left into the turn pocket. It's similar to a U-turn movement.
•3 Follow the pavement markings and signal lights. The signal lights are carefully synchronized to improve traffic flow and ensure driver safety.
