Two for Tuesday - It Happened Again...This Time, Right on Top of Mount Maurice in Red Lodge, Montana

I had a recent post where I featured a double rainbow taken over Red Lodge (on July 11, 2010): Speechless Sunday - Double Rainbow Over Red Lodge  .

Less than a week later, on July 17, 2010, it happened again!  I think this one is equally if not more beautiful as the sun was also hitting part of the mountain (Mount Maurice).

Here are a couple of photos of this beautiful moment in time.

Liz,

Magical sounds pretty right when one is in observance of this beautiful phenomenon.  :)

Myrl,

I can imagine that you have a very beautiful garden.   But, I am glad the rainbows confirmed that!  :)

Marc,

The time in between the two sets of double rainbows I saw was 6 days.  Not sure what the odds of seeing two double rainbows in two weeks are but the odds of seeing them 6 days apart are twice less probable.   :)

Hey Gerry, Those photos are just spectacular!  I love that golden colored cloud.  It must be good luck to see a double rainbow, and it looks like the pot of gold spilled into the cloud on this one.

A double WOW,  so lovely. My favorit double was on Lake Mead, NV it was side by side not as normally seen on over the other, and of course did not have a camera with me. Thank heverns for cameras in cell phones.

Kathleen,

You are very welcome.  I had not noticed double raibows till I moved to live in Montana.   I am glad you came by and enjoyed the beauty.  I hope you do get to see one in person and capture with a camera.  I know you will be ready!  :)

Now you have to go find a triple rainbow or find a way to link it to moose monday!

Paul,

Do triple rainbows even exist?  :)

I will have probably more luck finding a  moose with a simple rainbow in the background.    That would be a great day especially if it falls on a Monday!  :)

Great photo--(although it looks "photo-shopped" I know you didn't.) I have never seen a double rainbow before.

Deborah,

For some reason, either I never noticed it anywhere else before or it happens more frequently in Montana, I had never seen a double rainbow before living in Red Lodge, Montana.

Did you find two pots of gold? Did you? And are you willing to share? You mother did teach you to share, right?

Jim,

I did not get the chance to move fast and get to the ends to check for the gold but I would have had no problem sharing with Russel and you and all my other friends here.  :)

Magical,  aren't they!?  Once I made my hubs and sons jump in the car and race to the end of a rainbow, because we could actually SEE where it touched down, and it wasn't far from our house.  Sadly, there was no pot of gold ;oP, and because I was never very good at science I didn't know for SURE whether or not we would be able to SEE the rainbow if we were IN IT, (we couldn't!).  It lasted an unusually long time, and after we got back in our car and drove away, we could still see it behind us...This is a spectacular catch and though I have seen doubles elsewhere, I think I have seen more in the mountains, than other places.  When I see storm clouds my eyes are always looking UP!  Thanks for sharing!
