Karen  Your posts are always well planned with lots of variation, color, appropriate photos and graphics.  That is why they are so well received

Carpet Graphic

We've all seen posts where the wall to wall text and closeness of the text is an immediate turnoff.

You have 3 seconds

for a reader to decide if they are going to "stay or click away"

Yes, a graphic or picture helps, but endless text with no white space or change in size or color will not win the mind (forget about the heart) of your reader.

  1. When it comes to white space, font size and color Debe Maxwell is an excellent model to emulate.
  2. Bill Gassett, on the other hand, usually uses a medium size font, but he employs lots of white space, photos and doesn't ramble on endlessly.
  3. An excellent example of photography blended in with text and white space to stress a point effectively is the post by Cynthia Bartch discussing the use of sea shells in home staging.

You don't need a lot of technical expertise to accomplish either of these three approaches. All you need is Scribefire, a simple program that is as easy to use as WORD and it's free. There are other similar programs available. I'm no blogging expert - I just know a person's attention span on the internet is very short plus what I've learned from blogging experts.

Karen, Do you use scribefire?  I have never heard of it. I've been so busy transferring my static site to wordpress so blogging  has been a bit on the back burner.  I'm almost finshed.

Marchel  She will write to you.  We do not use Scribefire - it is used with Firefox, but it is simple to use

I use Scribefire from FIREFOX * I found it during the AR "dark days" as it would save my post.  I've also used GMAIL for fonts and colors!!!
