The Laurie Manny Challenge-3 Posts I Think You Should Read-My Blogosphere Adventure

By
Real Estate Agent with Homequest Real Estate

When it comes to reading "outside" Blogs I always have the best of intentions. I even started my own WordPress Blog to increase my Internet Presence...that too was with the best of intentions!

Here's hoping this exercise in self-discipline will help turn my intentions into accomplishments!

                                                       MY BLOGOSPHERE ADVENTURE !!

                                                                      blogosphere

I am a "Favorites" freak.  Every time I read an article an excerpt from an article or even an interesting radio discussion...I make a "note" This first Blog was one I had noted!

Back in June I was listening to NPR (as is my habit) and there was a very interesting interview with a Cancer Victim. His name was Leroy Seavers. Leroy has been a journalist for 25 years. He worked on the production staff of ABC Nightline for 14 years and CBS Newsfor 10. He has received 12 News Emmys and 2 Peabody Awards. He is obviously a very accomplished man.

Leroy's life has now taken a different turn, now that he has Cancer.ribbon

The radio program was about Blogging, more specifically Leroy's Blog My Cancer. Surprisingly, his Blog does not dwell on woe...it deals with fact. Leroy doesn't see his life in terms of next month or even next week he looks at life from day to day! His August 15th entry speaks volumes about how Leroy views his various (and they are many) treatments and surgeries.

He relates a story about when he was a young man and worked in a Commercial Bakery. He was often involved in attaching the "sell by" labels. He learned that if for some reason they couldn't get product shipped before the "sell by" date....they would change the tag. They would extend the shelf life.....In his view, his surgeries are like the tags...and are extending his shelf life!

I decided to pick my second choice from a little closer to home Word Press.

I am on there as often as I have to be to post to my own Blog....but, have never read any of the others!

After checking around quite a bit.( And after discovering how many bloggers just put in a You-Tube Video and call it a Blog)....I resorted to a favorite topic of mine, Politics! I found The Scrooge Report. This is a VERY interesting site with news views you may never see or hear from a mainstream source. One Post by Alexander, I found of considerable interest was Hamas TV: From Militant Mickey to Saraa, 11-year-old Mouthpiece. An article about Indoctrination.

kids noteThis was from an AP story shown on Fox News, about a Hamas run TV show for children (Tomorrows Pioneers) and the 11 year old girl who hosts the show. She talks about childish, girly topics at one point then promotes her desire to be a Martyr on the other! The next generation at work!

My final choice was also from my saved "Favorites". Coincidentally it is also by two Active Rain members

Rich Jacobson (Sparky) and Mark Flanders (Buckwheat) have a fun Blog called The Soundbite Blog. This Blog was a visual delight! The pictures and depictions of content breakdown were just plain fun!

Sparky's Blog on A local Restaurant was an exercise in a perfect Localism post. I especially like how he promoted his "Four P's" theory.....a successful establishment must please the Palate, be an economical Price, have ample Portions and exhibit Prompt and courteous service! I am sure the Teriyaki Restaurant he spotlighted was thrilled!

We could all take a lesson from Sparky's style! My only disappointment is that they don't post more often!

                                                                     Food

This has been an enjoyable and eye opening exercise. To see the differences in style and content and to find something I can relate to in most... re-assures me I may actually be doing it right!  I'm actually becoming a Blogger

Hi, Joan- you are a BLOGGER, and a really good one.  I like the diversity (in addition to your style), and I never stop in the middle of a long winded post.  Always enjoyable, to the point, and meaningful.  Oh- and invisible?  Nah.  I do believe that, once in a blue moon, you've got a wicked little grin- and it's GREAT!

Excellent post, Joan !  You most definitely are a blogger, and a darned fine one at that. Your topics are always well chosen and very interesting and you write with style and spunk.

I enjoyed this Laurie Manny contest entry blog of yours very much. I'll check out the blogs you referenced.
