15 Comments on It's Easier to Hit that X
Pam, SO true and now that you brought it all into perspective, I am with you on junk email rather than in my post office box! ~ Susan
Hi Dan McAllister (FirstCoast360 and JustVideod).
You said:
"Hi Pam, funny (but true) post for the world we live in today! I can't figure out how to stop getting people to send me Meds! I don't even take any! Here's a link for you...you may hit delete, you may not...but you might learn something new and if you do...that's a good thing! Right?"
I did delete your comment because the link you provided had nothing to do with this post. Shame on you.
And it was easy to delete your comment too...just as easy as it is to use that X button in Outlook.
Hi Susan,
I'm really tired of all the flyers and admail in my personal mailbox too...all the resources it takes to print all that stuff that just gets ignored and thrown away is criminal.
I wish really wish the government would see that and change their no unsolicited e-mail policy to a no hard copy policy. After all, business has to advertise somewhere.
Pam,
I have most of that material go to my spam box. But, every so often something really important gets in there too.
Brian
Pam, x is a great thing. Junk mail screens are great too. I feel sorry for the people that have paid to create and send out all that paper I throw in the recycling bin without reading .... but no that sorry ;).
Makes you wonder how effective it is for them.
Hi Brian,
I don't have any junk mail rules set up just for that reason. Taking a few minutes to go through and delete spam is better than not seeing that lead that could be worth future income :)
Hi Janice,
I've done a few unaddressed admail campaigns, but every time I do I can't help but cringe at the paper and ink I've wasted and unless I'm giving away something for free they don't have an effect unless I farm the same area about 10 times.
It's hard to know how to market yourself these days...cold calling, door knocking, flyers, e-mail...with the popularity of the Internet, which allows the majority to look for things as they need them, the general public is losing patience with all that stuff.
Pam, My experiences have been poor. I felt I wasted time, paper, ink and MY MONEY!
I have a new idea for expanding my business with virtual consults and I just don't know how to market it frankly.
Hi Janice,
Well, to start you could blog about it here...REALTORS and associated businesses would probably make great evangelists for you :)
Pam,
I agree with you. I got an email from a Realtor. A listing NOT on the MLS yet, but will suit my buyer.
Hi Terry,
There ya' go...and not only is that e-mail available on your computer if you choose to save it, you can print it if you want for your files (or not), and easily delete it if you don't need it anymore.
That e-mail didn't kill any trees, waste any paper, or hit the dump or recycling depot, and you got the info you needed for your buyer.
WOW, eh?
Really Pam, it's not big deal just to delete emails. I get maybe 10 to 12 a day that I'm not interested in. It's not a huge inconvenience.
I believe you, Malcolm :) And I agree.
How ironic that an AR member comments on your post with a solicitation link to their business. I stopped sending real estate flyers a long time ago and have concentrated on getting my business through the internet.
There are agents though that do continuously blast the neighbourhood with flyers and they seem to work for them.
I guess you have to do what works for you. I find it funny that brokers are now sending emails to us to try to recruit us. Times have changed.
Hi Jenny,
I'm kind of hoping he saw the irony in it and did it on purpose. I'd hate to think he lacked that much common sense.
I know what you mean about agents who blast neighbourhoods with flyers, but I have to wonder how many times they have to do it before getting anywhere. It's the same with cold calling. There are still agents who do that too, but I've also heard of brokerages who have gotten into trouble because a rep has called a number on the no-call list.
I'm with you and concentrating on building my on-line pressence. It's worked in the past and I believe it to be the future.
