Turn the air conditioning on ahead of showings

We live in La Quinta, California. We have over 1000 days each year where the temperature is over 100 degrees. It is miserable trying to show homes without the A/C turned on. Many homes are vacant and the agents will not show up ahead of time to turn on the air and cool the house down.

Put yourself in the buyers shoes. Which house would you spend more time in and have a better initial feeling - the hot steamy closed up home or one thatis chilled, light and bright with some soft music playing? This seems to basic, but it really amazes me how many agents are too busy or just don't care enough to get the house chilled and opened up before showing. Taking it one step further, they could actually show up for the showing. I know we sell alot more homes on the listings where we show up for the showing as well.

Also, this means the agent needs to go back after the showing, be sure everything is locked up and the a/c is turned off until the next showing. This will not cost the much to chill the home and will sure speed up the selling process which in the long run will save the owner money.

Please - turn on the air conditioning for us before the showing. We all love chilled houses.

Lori, I don't believe you have 1,000 days a year over 100 deg., but I know what you meant :)

Thanks for the correction on the "1000 days of heat." That is funny- It does feel like 1000 days when we are walking through those HOT houses.

Some sellers would have blood coming out of their ears if they knew we were costing them a "fortune" in electricity.

Most of the time when I am showing homes it is not physically possible to arrive ahead of the clients-- because they are right there with me!  I have been leaving my car running outside to keep it cool-- K

I am speaking about the listing agent having the house cooled down.
