When you're an animal lover like me, it's hard to see your home from a non-animal lover's perspective.  In our household, we have one large dog and three cats.  Trying to imgaine selling my home and appealing to all buyers makes my head hurt.  Where do you start to de-animal your house?

For pet owners with cats, it begins with scooping litter boxes at least once a day.  If possible, whenever they use them.

For owners of any shedding animal, vacuum daily.  That includes furniture where the cats or dog may take naps.

When Buyers are coming for a viewing, crating the cats is a great idea.  Cats have a tendency to wander into closets and may end up locked up.  Dogs, on the other hand, should be removed from the home.  Take them for a walk.  They can be very intimidating to Buyers.  Unlike cats, dogs can be very territorial no matter how sweet you think they are.  Their instinct is to guard their home.  Don't anticipate that your dog will be as loving with strangers as it is with you.

Keep food areas clean.  Sweep up any crumbs left behind on a daily basis.

Scoop the doggie and cat poop in the yard.  Your prospective buyer may want to walk around your yard.  Don't leave messes for them to step in.  They may just bring it back in the house.

If you follow these simple steps, your home will be appealing to a wide range of buyers, animal lovers or not.

Pat:  Thanks for the reblog.  I'm so new to this blogging thing that I didn't possibly think I would write something that would catch enough attention to be reblogged.
