Stop and think about playing the lottery and WINNING when you do. I am not talking about a free replay or $1-2 dollars either. Here in California, when it was first introduced, people were not only winning big $$$ left and right, but the main winner also won secondary prizes as well.
After that, someone decided to tweak it so that you won less, but you still won.. Well, they continued to tweak and tweak and finally got it to the point where your chance of winning is 1 out of so many millions....In other words, you do not win when you play......and after a while, you stop playing altogether.
However, the people running the show fair quite well. They charge money to run the games, take a portion of the winnings and the rest goes to schools (and such) so to give it an air of respectability and decency.
Now, lets back up just a little.........Why not reverse the process and go back to the time when more people won? What is the problem with that?
When someone comes into a large sum of money, they without a doubt want to spend it......quickly, foolishly and lavishly. Am I missing something here when I say that this is a good stimulus for the economy both local, National and Inter-National?
Homes get purchased, cars are bought, people travel, nick knacks, novelty items, and retail goods of all sorts move off the shelf's. People are kept employed and money gets passed around and around.....
If enough people would win, then they in turn would help others win just by spending the money they have won....this is not complex.....In addition, it is fun and supports capitalism.....
In fact...we can make it compulsory that you spend a certain % of your funds for the first several years. Is there anyone who would argue or want to litigate that privilege?. Yes, I would sadly agree to be forced to spend a certain amount of my winnings being miserable and cursing the system as I was doing it.....NOT
Having a chance to win money where it is hard to do has the opposite effect. Consequently, less people play and the whole concept goes sour after a while. The LOTTERY is not HOTTERY.
I know of a little market who prices their meats & veggies well below for what they are selling else where. The result? They sell meat and produce quicker, cheaper, and fresher than the big name markets......MY POINT: Set the lottery up so that more people win, which generates more excitement to play...which allows money to get passed around and around as it was intended to be......
The concept is not an old one either....In Vegas, Jersey and other Casinos all over the world, they loosen up the slots, and conduct contests to create a DRAW.....of people. You guessed it......more people come, win, tell others and cause them to play...then the process is repeated and everyone prospers.......
I know here in California, it would be so easy to implement and the results would be immediate......Remember the old story about if everyone gave everyone a dollar......we would all have a dollar and never be without a dollar until you spend it. Repeat the process and the system thrives........
I SUBMIT.................Should winning the lottery be made easier?
