Lake Travis ISD - Bee Cave Austin TX - Receives EXEMPLARY Rating

Lake Travis Independent School District has just announced that they received the highest honor a school district can receive in the state of Texas, Exemplary!! 

Over the years, many of the schools within the district have been rated Exemplary, but the entire district as a whole has never received this honor until now.  Every single school in the entire district is rated as Exemplary except for two, and they are rated the second highest rating of Recognized.

This is the main reason my family moved into the Lake Travis ISD, because the schools are very highly rated and the students are high-achievers.  Why pay for private school when you live in such a great public school district?  What makes for an Exemplary rating by the state? At least 90% of the students taking the TAKS Test (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) must pass, along with a low drop out rate. What was the drop out rate for 2009? 0%. That's right, ZERO!

From the Lake Travis ISD Press Release, "Aside from exceeding state standards on the TAKS, our completion rate for all students was 98.5 percent, meaning that the vast majority of students who entered the ninth grade in the fall of 2006 successfully completed their studies and graduated with their cohort in 2009,” added Dr. Kirk. “Additionally, our dropout rate in 2009—which is the percentage of seventh and eighth-students who left school during the year—was zero percent. While we have much to celebrate, our focus will remain where it rightfully belongs—on our students and their continued success.”

• Lake Travis High School – Exemplary
• Lake Travis Middle School – Exemplary
• Hudson Bend Middle School – Recognized
• Bee Cave Elementary School – Exemplary
• Lake Travis Elementary School – Recognized
• Lake Pointe Elementary School – Exemplary
• Lakeway Elementary School – Exemplary
• Serene Hills Elementary School – Exemplary
