This Grafton County Town offers endless outdoor recreation- with 3 ponds, ½ dozen streams, Appalachian Mount MoosilaukeTrail crossing through Town and sits at the foot of Mountain Moosilauke a very popular hiking destination. It is largely surrounded by White Mountain National Forest and lies almost fully within the Connecticut River watershed. This was a town similar to Lincoln in that it was well suited to sawmills and lumber production and has seen that industry disappear. Benton now has some farming and orchards.
