Build Your Business Plan For 2011 Now!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with RE/MAX The Producers

I encourage the agents in our office to begin developing their business plan for 2011 now, and implement it before September 30th of this year.  Start now and see the results early, and make changes as needed.

Statistics say that only 5% of real estate agents develop an active business plan and actually use it.  For those who wait until the 1st of the year, they typically won't see the results until late spring.

To succed in today's market you need to have a plan and a budget for it.  Typically, you should plan on spending 20% of your planned gross income, but trimming to 10% is recommended.  However, the best thing you can do now, is to develop a relationship with as many people as possible by getting out there and meeting people.

Best of Luck

Wow!  We do our plans in October and implement in January.  Interesting.  We may just try implementing earlier.

I think that many people need to put some effort into a plan right about now.

Caring expertise...knowledge for you!

Good advice!     I was surprised that only 5% do this kind of planning, period.

Don, I'm a little behind schedule, but this is the first year that I'm putting a business plan together. Hopefully it works better than "winging it".

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the comments.  In my opinion keep the plan simple.  For example,

use a spiral notbook and us 1 page for each market segment like:

FSBOs

OpenHouses

Expired & Cancelleds

Internet

Hope this helps

Don
