Believing

active_rain_feature_5I am honored and humbled this morning to have received my fourth national feature on Active Rain in a month. I am not quite sure how this happens, because if I knew I would do more of it, but it is special. I have made countless adjustments to get things right. Studying Walter Sanford, Zig Zigler, Bob Proctor and Sandy Gallagher have been enormous help along the way. Reading and commenting on Active Rain has given me answers to questions I hadn’t thought to ask, but was glad to know. Going to as many meetings as I can in my area has also provided a wealth of insight into the business in my area. I have met a number of great people along the way so far, most recently Bill Barnett. Each of these activates has fueled my belief in what can be done and how doing the right things insures your success. What I am really trying to do here is channel what I am learning through my own practice and then share that with you. That is the formula I believe in. Learn, grow and share is the simple recipe and it has me believing in my ultimate success.

active_rain_larry_lawferAlong the way I have failed a number of times. I didn’t have a client sign the Information of Brokerage Services and he threatened to sue me for the omission when he found a house himself and wanted to cut me out of the equation. I had a couple take my time for several days looking for rental property that they wanted to lease. He was in the military and was being stationed in this area for his final tour as a recruiter. After all the work they were told by the branch of service he represented that they couldn’t rent at the price range I was asked to show them. They rented off the internet and cut me out of the equation even though we had a signed agreement. These are not horrific stories in the least, just bumps along the way that have more significance because they are my first hits. I have worked in conjunction with other agents to find their lack of timely response to the needs of the bank we were representing disqualified us from receiving more REO’s from the asset managers. I believed these seasoned agents understood the process and were helping me learn. I was wrong, partly…I did learn, just learned what not to do. Somehow in this situation I was blamed for pushing to do it right, once I knew what right was and is. Sometimes it seems you can be wrong for insisting to do it right. Geez, the real estate business is complicated.

subscribe_to_my_blogThis is what I believe. Getting up every day with the right frame of mind insures you can achieve defined goals. Along the way bumps and bruises will happen. Belief in self coupled with study, observation and adjustment insures the achievement of the goals that you hold within. Trot them out today, your goals, take a look at them and spit shine them. You, too, will believe and that belief sets up the feelings of your success. Those feelings drive your actions, and your actions determine your results. Another month is passing leaving us 5 to go. Lets get at it.<!--EndFragment-->

Sorry Larry, but I can't agree - it is never wrong to insist that things be done right.  But over time, the other issues fade and are replaced with success.  Thanks for sharing.

Great post Larry - as always.  But I'm a follower and like your "can-do and if I can't I'll find another way" attitude!  Keep it up and I will continue to look forward to your comments.

Blessings!!

You're right, 2010 is rapidly waning and there are goals to be met. The speed bumps life thows us are only as challenging as we let them be.

@Jack Mosssman, the point I am making about Real Estate being complicated is in no way implying things should not be exactly right.  I think we can all agree to that, as we all might need to admit that things don't always go right and then what?  Approaching that moment with the right attitude will give you the ability to go long term in this business.  Success is made from overcoming failure.  Successful people fail far more than unsuccessful people, it just means something different to a successful person.  Once step closer to the right answer.
