I have been struggling with where to find leads.  I make it a point to talk to friends when ever I get a chance but the other day I had my light bulb moment.  I have been in sales and customer service for more years than I care to think about and one thing I have learned that it is not always the obvious person that needs or wants your service.

While sitting in a training  with Mary Kay cosmetics we were  taught to use the 10 foot rule.   Anyone within 10 feet of you is a possible lead.  I just need to apply that to my  real estate business.  I need to make sure that I let everyone and anyone know that I am a REALTOR.  What is the worse they can do to me.   Walk away??? Tell me they are not interested??? Or maybe just maybe they are the lead I have been waiting for.

So I am going to make it a point to step out of my comfort zone and start talking instead for sitting around and trying to figure out what new trick I can try.  Once again I am reminded of something Mary Kay Ash always said.  WISH FOR THE MOON AND YOU MIGHT SOMEDAY LAND AMOUNG THE STARS.........Well here is to wishing and doing something other than complaining.

Great Idea about the 10 foot rule Mary Kay. I need to put that into practice also. Tough times get us back to the basics. Appreciate your blog post. Steve

Mary, wear your name tag when you go out and people will ask "how's the real estate market?"

I agree with Team Knowles. Wearing your name tag is huge. People definitely read it and you get recognized as your community resource. I like the post about Mary Kay's marketing your definitely on the right track.

If you get an opportunity, take a Brian Buffini course -- it is invaluable.  In the meantime, wear your name tag, hand out 5 business cards a day and send out 5 hand written notes to your sphere of influence; that's a start.

Some of my most memorable (in a positive way) clients were strangers who either walked in the office or I got by phone. From experience, and it may be different for some, but don't count on friends, neighbors, church associates etc. to support your business.  You will be disappointed!

I just pulled my nametag out of a box and dusted it off.  I haven't worn it in a long time. Thanks for the comments with the reminder how nametags can be a valuable for getting leads.
