Do you bring your own equipments to work?

At work my computer is a little bit slow but the monitor is bad having ghost images that makes multiple images. It is a bit annoying that is why I don't use my computer there for too long otherwise it hurts my eyes. The network printers there often get broken or so many agents are using it that there is a long wait.

So for the last 3 weeks I been slowly bringing in my equipments. First I brought in my Macbook Pro which has the Parrallel software so I can run Windows. It is good that I can have everything synced at work and home. Next I brought in a color inkjet printer so I can print color flyers and documents whenever I need to and save trips to the office printer. I left the printer on my desk. The next day everybody in my office had checked it out and was trying to get a similar model. Other agents would stop by all day to check out the printer and computer so keep getting distractions.

The only reason why I would bring my equipments is because the one that I got from at the office don't work. It cost me money to purchase the equipments and it is easy for them to fly out the door.

There are some office owners that I know that forbid agents from bringing in personal equipments because it is very easy to copy confidential information and paperworks and also because it might cause jeolousy among agents if an agent brought a brand new computer and is more productively against other agents that are using old equipments.

I am curious to know if you bring your equipments and what are they? It might give us ideas to be more productive.

I help brokers build businesses they love.

I guess your arrangement depends on the size of your brokerage and maybe yoru comp plan. We have about 100 agents and there is a resource room with about 10 computers for general use. There's a bunch of printers and copiers, so we all use them as needed. I can't imagine an agent doing this job without a laptop, and I think most of our agents have laptops and many use them at their desks. People with offices tend to set up their own desktop computers because these people also often have assistants. So I have a laptop which goes everywhere with me, and my office has a desktop for my assistant. No printer in my office, why pay for ink since printing is free to me. No real need for fax machines anymore, because we have scanners and efax numbers. Hope this is useful information.

Thanks for the feedbacks. If you own your own brokerage it is easier to bring your equipments. But don't you also need to provide equipments for your agents and help maintain them?
