Carlisle trails and conservation land.
About 25% of Carlisle is protected conservation land, which makes for excellent recreational opportunities. Prospect Street has direct access at the end of the road to approximately 112 acres, which was purchased in 1974-79, it ties into the Two Rod Road Trail which goes into Harvard University's Estabrook Woods. Two Rod Road dates from 1744, and is named for its width - there are two rods, or 33 feet, between the stone walls that border much of the trail. Estabrook Woods is a 675-acre forest located partly in Carlisle and partly in Concord. Two Rod Road leads in about two miles to the Punkatasset Hill conservation area in Concord.
