No Cell Phones

Now this is a good idea.

Parents, get off your cell phone and pay attention! That plea is from a Chandler Arizona elementary school. Fulton Elementary has about 400 students that are pickup up or dropped off each day in a very short period of time. They don't want to have any tragic accidents.

I still remember a day after school when I was in 5th Grade. After school, us kids were running around, and I darted into the street to cross over. I thought I had looked, but all of a sudden a car skidded and honked it's horn. The mom was looking right at me and I saw her eyes. It was a close call and I could have been hit hard by the car.

The risk that mom's or dad's who are talking on a cell phone and distracted while the school kids are jumping out, running around the cars, darting between parked and moving cars is high. And, there is probably not a good reason why the drivers can't just wait 10 or 15 minutes to get to that critical conversation.

The school has enlisted the school student council to hold signs up in the mornings and get the word out.

Good for Fulton Elementary. We are parents need to just STOP dangerous situations from developing.
