Start 'em young, is what I always say...
A local young man named Austin Hornbaker won the Midget Boys (11 and 12 year old) pentathlon event that was held in Sacramento, CA on August 28th. He will be in 7th Grade at Kyrene Aprende Middle School in Chandler.
This is not just a fluke. The young man competes with the Arizona Cheetahs track club and knows what he is doing. The scoring was close, and he only won by 2 points.
The pentathlon is made up of five events: 80-meter hurdles, shot put, high jump, long jump, and the 1,500 meter run.
Congratulations to Austin. Wonder what he will do for an encore??
