You are an intelligent, seasoned and skilled individual going about your life both personal and professional when all of a sudden, something presents itself and you...... wanting to do the right thing try too hard to do it and the end result can be that nothing gets done or the wrong thing gets done.....WHY?

ANALYSIS PARALYSIS

You over analyzed and became paralyzed in the process. You tried too hard or didn't try at all. In some cases fear has interfered with your decision making process making it even more complicated and in other cases, you are indecisive perhaps from having too much on your mind. You have become ineffective.

Failure to correct this produces a false life full of arrogance and caution. It is disruptive and promotes confusion and lack of growth and understanding to anyone around you.

I have seen this in action (INACTION) and it kills deals, spoils children and creates weak adults. We all encounter it until we one day will become aware of it perhaps by becoming fed up with it first. Could this is your day....your time to be rid of this dysfunctional behavior? I hope so...

Do your homework on whatever it is you have to consider. If it is a business deal and you are a business person, then do your math and make a decision. If you want additional clarity, then take the allotted time-out and revisit it again. But, set it up to be dealt with or it will deal with you......negatively.

If it is a decision involving your children, most of us over react and tend to make rash or no decisions. Consider carefully what the situation is and then calmly, but firmly, make an announcement and take a stand.

SIDEBAR: in today's crazy world of unknowns, when it comes to things that have to do with children, I am not liberal. You do not get a second chance with children. One bad decision can be hurt someone for life. Definitely take your time here.

I would rather make decision than not make decisions. Not everyone is cut out for that however. If that is the case, then seek counsel from your spouse, friend, or role model...but do get done what has been presented to you. Remember, it has been presented to you for a reason....rise to this occasion.

If you want to be free of this robber of life and joy, handle it and don't let it handle you. Identify the issue, isolate it from other non-material considerations and CHOOSE.........

As you practice this, it has a self-correction mechanism built-in for the user........so look forward to your next decision and may it be in your favor and that you find favor with it......

Nice post. I have seen 'analysis paralysis' first hand & it only makes the situation worse than it was in the beginning.  I will say though personally, if I can't make a decision fair quickly, then my decision is NO decision.  There has only been a few times that I can remember, the last one being whether to change real estate companies or not.  I could not make a decision which is not like me at all.  I took it as a sign.

Hi Lyn....you know just experimenting with it is a step toward learning on how to handle the darn thing....seems like you are progressing with it. Also, I use NO liberally when I have to. Plus, I am aware that there are decisions that can be revisited. Until then, NO works pretty well. Thank you Lyn for coming by...

Richie - It was nice to speak with you on the phone today. I think we just had a conversation about this very thing? LOL. I can usually make a decision relatively quickly as well. However, when it comes to writing,....not so much. I get stuck more often than not. Thanks for giving me the inspiration to get over my "analysis paralysis." ;-) Enjoy your day.

Richie:  Ouch!  Have you been peeking over my shoulder?  I really have been trying to step-up and just make those decisions intelligently and promptly.  Finally admitted to myself that I was looking to others to help me make decisions rather than seeking the proper avenues, looking at the facts, looking inward and learning to just say "No".  Thanks for the choker chain!

Richie - Great reminder for all of us to take action.  You said: I would rather make decision than not make decisions. Not everyone is cut out for that however. What many overlook is that not making a choice IS a choice.  It's always better to take charge than to leave the happenings in our life to "chance."

I experience this very thing while riding with my wife. Just because my directions suck doesn't mean that she shouldn't make the decision to turn around faster once I admit we're lost, and I make that decision quickly. I suppose she's cautious because I am so decisive and frequently wrong.  Yes, I just got out of the car and she was driving. :)

Richie - Thanks for the compliment.  I only stop by to occasionally water the plants but the seeds are always germinated inside your head.

I LOVE to make snap decisions! They are correct because they are my highest thought before all the brain indecision kicks in that tells you to study and wait.
