This was the deployment ceremony that was held yesterday, August 2 in Worcester, MA.  Today, Normand LaChapelle left for Afghanistan for the next 15 months.  Normand is a member of unit 181 Infantry out of MA.

Normand is second from the left and his brother, Matt is on the far right.  Matt is a black hawk helicopter mechanic in the Medivac unit DET. 1 Charlie Company 3-126th Aviation.  Matt is leaving for Iraq in September.  He has already been serving there.

Normand and Maureen are their parents and Bryce is their young 13 year old brother.

This is a photo of the two boys with their grandmother.  The LaChapelle family was not looking forward to this day.  We are all very proud of Normand and Matt, and we pray that they return home safely.

Barbara - I remember when you posted about Normand's impending deployment when your granddaughter Brittany graduated.  My thoughts and prayers are with all of you and I pray for the safe return of both Normand & Matt.  There are no words to describe the heart felt emotions we struggle with when we send our children and loved ones off to war and how proud we are of them for going above and beyond in their call to duty to our country.

My brother is currently in Afghanistan and we are anxiously awaiting his return home for a couple of weeks of R&R and then returning back to finish out his tour.
