Our stay in Mammoth Lakes is coming to an end today and we are headed to Reno to experience "Hot August Nights".  We have seen so many beautiful sights, including Mono Lake, June Lake, Mammoth Mountain and many other places and encourage anyone who has not been here to come for a visit, anytime of the year.  You won't be disappointed because with the seasons the images change... so don't forget to bring your camera!

Below is why Mammoth is called "Mammoth"!

Susan - I love Mammoth Lakes area!  I used to go to Hot August nights when I lived in Sacramento.  It was onyl a 2 hour drive.  You'll have fun but be prepared it is crowded!  September they have their annual rib festival which is a blast too!

I love Mammoth Lakes and I have been talking about taking the family through there next fall on the way to Death Valley.  My wife asked me what it was about.  I found your post and showed her the pictures.

Driving 395 is one of the nicest drives I know with the mountains on one side and the desert on the other.

Thank you all for your comments!  One of the downsides to traveling is lack of internet access, but it is worth it and I try to take moments along the way to share some of what we are experiencing and hopefully encourage you all to take a trip up here to visit these beautiful areas!  ~ Susan
